Edale and the Hope Valley

The Peak District is one of the most visited National Parks in the world yet at Edale House you can feel it is your own private playground. The stunning variety of walks on your doorstep will please everyone from the ultra fit to the small children so you don’t even have to leave the Edale Valley throughout your whole holiday. There are 2 pubs in the village which serve food, a National Trust Café serving light meals and delicious cakes and Indian and Chinese takeaways in Hope. Edale is served by a regular train service from Sheffield and Manchester. There is a riding stables in the village which offer pony treks, hacks, lessons and also full day activities for children. If however you do want to explore further afield in Castleton there is the famous Peveril Castle, many small cafes and the caverns for exploring. In Hathersage there is a restaurant aiming for Michelin star status, Littlejohn’s grave and the David Mellor factory and Country Shop. In Buxton there is the beautiful opera house, the spring dispensing free Buxton mineral water, supermarkets and Go Ape! Chatsworth with its gardens and Adventure Playground is only 30 minutes away as is Bakewell (famous for its tarts and puddings) and Haddon Hall. You can also spend a day visiting the Plague village of Eyam immortalized in the 17th Century by the villagers’ brave decision to quarantine their village to stop the plague spreading throughout Derbyshire.
